The "marks" began as ink drawings (liquid) on paper (solid); in
the making of these pieces, the "mark" is stainless steel (solid)
and the stone is concrete (liquid).
The images
are derived directly from the Graham technique dance drawings.(Works
on Paper) Placed as objects in the stone, they evoke questions concerning
the power and strength of a mark or word.
The rough edges of the stone are drilled to appear as though 'excavated' from
the earth asking,"Who made this? Why? How?"
